Architectural Renderings
Architectural renderings are one of the "bread and butter" staples of a 3D Artist's production time. The field of architectural rending is very fast paced and demanding. Accurate details must be taken into account, and well as surface qualities, and lighting. The complexity of structures in today's modern architectural handbook continues to increase. This increase in complexity is handed down to the 3D Artist in the form of extremely high polygon counts, which increase rendering times. The use of multiple materials in today's modern structures also increases the rendering overhead in the form of texture maps. Renders can have well over 50 to 150 different texturemaps which can quickly eat up rendering memory. The use of procedural materials can help alleviate this burden, yet a balance between maps and procedural shaders is often the best solution.
